GEORGE NEWS - On Monday 20 April, Georgian Angelique Brandt celebrated the incredible milestone of reaching 100 years.
Born in Stellenbosch, she qualified as a teacher, and she spent some time teaching at the military base on Robben Island many years ago.
She lived independently until the age of 92, when she moved to George. She loves animals, took pride in her beautiful garden, and has always enjoyed a good plate of salads, still her favourite.
She shared her life with her late husband, Dr Rudolf Brandt, who passed away in 1977. Together, they enjoyed short breakaways, not one long holiday, but weekends away and making the most of small moments, something she still fondly remembers. After his passing, she continued living on her own for many years.
She celebrated her 100th birthday at Lyttleton, surrounded by loved ones and family. Asked for a few words of wisdom, she said she had none. Her two nephews, Willem and Pieter Faure, joined her for the celebrations.
