GEORGE NEWS - Two of the three people who were injured in last week's truck accident on the N2 near the Pacaltsdorp-George off-ramp, are still recovering in hospital.
The third person sustained moderate injuries and was discharged from hospital over the weekend.
One of the other two patients who sustained serious injuries has been transferred to a hospital in Cape Town and the third casualty, who sustained critical injuries, is being treated at Mediclinic George. He is in a serious but stable condition.
The accident, that occurred at about 07:15 on Thursday morning, 28 July, involved two trucks and a car.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, initial information collected from the scene indicates that all three vehicles were driving in the direction of Mossel Bay when an interlink truck carrying bags of flour allegedly attempted to make a U-turn and was hit by a truck travelling behind it.
Both lanes travelling George to Mossel Bay were closed for traffic for some hours as emergency services cleared the scene.
Some of the bags of flour, weighing between 12 and 25kg each, fell on top of the third vehicle, a sedan.
The three occupants of the truck that collided with the interlink were taken to hospital. No other injuries were reported.
No one in the car was injured as bags of flour landed on top of it.
