UPDATE: N2 direction Mossel Bay to George has been opened at 09:45.
GEORGE NEWS - Police and emergency services are still on the scene on the N2 near the Pacaltsdorp-George off-ramp after two trucks and a car were involved in an accident at about 07:15 this morning, Thursday 28 July.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, initial information collected from the scene indicates that all three vehicles were driving in the direction of Mossel Bay when an interlink truck carrying bags of flour allegedly attempted to make a U-turn and was hit by a truck travelling behind it.
Some of the bags of flour, weighing between 12 and 25kg each, fell on top of the third vehicle, a sedan.
The three occupants of the truck that collided with the interlink were taken to hospital with critical injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The N2 is currently closed for traffic with one lane partially open for motorists travelling from Mossel Bay to George.
Motorists travelling to George are advised to take the airport off-ramp to access George via the R102, as the road will be closed for approximately another two hours.
