GEORGE NEWS - As chairperson of the George CPF, Rupert Pretorius and his team play a vital role in strengthening trust between the police and local communities across the Garden Route.

The CPF co-ordinates safety campaigns, facilitates joint operations and ensures that community voices help shape policing strategies. 

All neighbourhood watches in the George district, including those in farming areas, operate under the CPF umbrella, working together to combat crime in line with SAPS guidelines.

Pretorius believes community safety is a shared responsibility. "We encourage residents to get involved, whether by joining a neighbourhood watch, attending meetings or simply staying informed. Every small action makes a difference."

He says his motivation comes from seeing people unite across backgrounds to protect and uplift one another. "The recognition we've received belongs to every volunteer and resident who contributes to George's safety."
