GEORGE NEWS - The Outeniqua Quilters Guild proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
Founded in 1986, the guild has grown into a lively community of quilters who share creativity, tradition and friendship.
Three of the original founder members remain active today, and each was honoured with a special membership pin to mark their enduring contribution.
The celebration, that coincided with International Quilting Day, took the form of a festive high tea, during which members showcased their talents by setting beautifully decorated tables.
Generous vendors added to the occasion by donating fabric, and every attendee received a whimsical 'fabric cupcake' as a keepsake.
The programme was enriched by distinguished guests: Antoinette Kriel, president of the South African Quilters Guild, delivered an inspiring address, and renowned performer Jannie Moolman delighted the audience with a musical performance.
All in all, a memorable day was enjoyed by everyone who honoured the guild's past while looking ahead to its future.
For four decades, the Outeniqua Quilters Guild has stitched together not only quilts, but also friendships and community spirit, and the celebration was a fitting tribute to the skills and dedication of its members.
