LIFESTYLE NEWS - Food is costly and wastage is never good. Usually it is perfectly okay to consume leftover foods provided that they have been stored in a safe manner.
Bear the following in mind regarding leftover foods.
Store leftover foods properly
If you have prepared more food than what can be eaten, ensure that you store them properly.
Extra foods should be transferred to a clean container that is airtight. It should then be refrigerated to prevent bacteria from forming.
Want to consume leftovers?
If you will be consuming some leftover foods, be sure to reheat the food thoroughly. Heat should penetrate the cold food all the way through so that there are no cold spots left.
Food from the refrigerator can be transferred to a plate or serving bowl before heating. Remember that the dishes you use have to be microwave-safe. Plastic dishes are not to be used when heating food in the microwave.
Feeling sick
If you have eaten leftovers and for some reason are not feeling too well, see your doctor.
It can be relatively easy for food to spoil if it is not stored properly. Germs can multiply and you can be left in a state of serious discomfort. Similar symptoms may be experienced if foods are not adequately heated.
Stay healthy and maintain good habits when handling, storing and consuming food.
