This is why the Curriculum Development unit of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) presented a revision day for matrics at Pacaltsdorp Secondary School on Saturday 17 August.
The seven-hour revision day started promptly at 08:00. The lecturers for the day were senior curriculum planners, subject advisers and specialists who offered lessons in Afrikaans Home Language, English First Additional Language, mathematics, life science, physical science, accounting, geography and business economics.
The 350 matriculants were from Pacaltsdorp, Great Brak River, Imizamo Yethu, Thembalethu, Parkdene, Fezekeli and Percy Mdala.
"The purpose of this day is to motivate and inspire Grade 12 learners in preparation of the final examinations," says Franklin Lewis Senior Curriculum Planner of the Western Cape Education Department.
South African matriculants will write their first paper of the NSC examinations in less than three months on 28 October.
"The WCED hopes that this initiative will assist to improve the learners' performance in the National Senior Certificate examinations of 2013," says Lewis.
