GEORGE NEWS - Shoplifting could land you jail time. This is the tough lesson that David Thobekile (56) learned when he was recently sentenced for shoplifting.
Thobekile, a regular offender from Knysna, was caught red-handed when he tried to steal two pairs of hair clippers and a tin of Ricoffy from Shoprite in the George CBD on Tuesday afternoon, 27 March.
He was arrested shortly thereafter and sentenced to two years direct imprisonment on Thursday, 17 May.
The value of the stolen items was R286,97.
Captain Zama Dekeni commented on Sergeant Linda Thomas from the George detective branch on a job well done. "It was good investigative skills and professionalism that led to this conviction," he said.
