GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Communications officers from various police stations in the Da Gamaskop Cluster, serving communities in the Southern Cape, convened in Mossel Bay this week for a training session.
Captain Malcolm Pojie, provincial communication and liaison officer of the police media centre (Southern Cape), facilitated the workshop.
Guest speakers included Jethro Grootboom from GCIS, who discussed key messages for government communication and their strategy, and Cornelle Carstens, journalist at the Mossel Bay Advertiser, who represented Group Editors.
Carstens spoke of media and print deadlines, as well as the challenges of crime reporting online and via social media.
