GEORGE NEWS - At a workshop focusing on the "Benefits of Skills Development in the Hospitality Industry", members of the hospitality and retail sector were given practical advice on how to get their staff trained with the minimum of administrative headaches.
The workshop took place at Pappa G's Trattoria at the Mount View Resort on Thursday last week.
The workshop was presented by Michiel van der Schyf of Van Der Consultancy (Pty) Limited, a human resource professional and skills development practitioner.
Attendees from the hospitality, tourism and retail industry (supermarkets) were informed that Francois Ferreira Academy (FFA) can develop a training plan to be implemented over the next year.
"FFA can assist with reporting on training conducted, so that your skills and development levy can be utilised fully.
"The skills development levy is 1% of your total annual payroll, paid to Sars monthly.

"The academy offers a full package, which includes applying for a discretionary grant."
