GEORGE NEWS - Architects and professional draughtsman are reminded of George Municipality’s existing electronic portal, and are encouraged to make use of this tool as opposed to manual submission.
George Municipality’s building control office has continued its operations throughout the lockdown period from remote locations, and will continue its functions on this basis for as long as is required.
The online building plan submission portal was launched on 21 February 2019 and enables electronic document handling. Online submission of applications minimises person-to person contact and potential resultant transmission through the handling of documents and stationery.
The health and safety of the municipality’s staff and clients is of utmost importance, hence the use of this portal is preferred and encouraged.
“The municipality recognises the contribution the construction industry makes to our local economy and in providing employment,” said municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose.
“The building control offices are committed to continued improvement of its systems and processes, to promote ease of doing business and to keep the industry active and prepared to mobilise its resources, once we can all return to business.
"Your continued use of the portal post Covid-19, will aid in reducing our carbon footprint and will also relieve much of our administration currently invested in handling hard copies of documents.”
