BUSINESS NEWS - The Dinosaur World Festival is bringing a prehistoric adventure to George from today, 31 October, to Sunday 3 November, taking place at the George showgrounds. This travelling exhibition offers a hands-on educational experience that caters to all ages, presenting a unique opportunity for visitors to explore life on earth as it was millions of years ago, during the age of dinosaurs.
Central to the festival are the life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, featuring iconic species like the 13-metre-long T-Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptors and many more species. These realistic models move and produce sounds, providing an immersive experience that showcases how these creatures may have appeared and behaved.
Through a combination of lifelike replicas and informative displays, the festival aims to foster interest in natural history and palaeontology.
Beyond the animatronics, visitors will find a range of activities to engage with. For younger attendees and aspiring palaeontologists, the fossil excavation area offers a chance to discover rare hidden 'fossils' - promoting hands-on learning about fossils and the work of scientists who study them. An educational zone displays detailed information about various dinosaur species, their habitats, and theories surrounding their extinction. Visitors can also enjoy live demonstrations where they can view live reptiles such as crocodiles, snakes and other living creatures.
"This mix of activities aims to create an engaging learning experience for the entire family," said David Huni, director-producer of the event.
"The event is ideal for families, school groups, and dinosaur enthusiasts. The festival provides a unique platform for sparking curiosity about earth's ancient history, making it a memorable event for the George community."
