Update
GEORGE NEWS - Electrical teams continue to attend to several high-, medium-, and low-voltage power outages across the George municipal area.
The Municipality is aware of the urgent need to restore the electricity supply and is doing everything possible to attend to the outages. Teams are actively responding to all reported faults, and residents are kindly requested to remain patient.
The Municipality is currently attending to more than 100 low-voltage complaints.
Due to the high volume of reports, not all complaints can be listed in this notice. Residents are assured that teams are attending to all reported faults.
Wilderness power outage
Wilderness Heights requires a complete rebuild of the network. Teams are on-site today to begin restoring customers.
There is currently no estimated time of restoration (ETR).
Power has been restored / partially restored in the following areas
- Approximately 90% of 3rd Street and Acasia Street in George East have been restored.
- Four streets in Rosemoor have been restored. Only MS Miller Street remains without power due to vandalism.
- Bult Street and 7th Avenue in Denneoord have been restored. Gelderbloem Street, Sauer Street, and Chris April Street remain without power.
- Power has been restored to Parkdene Main Road.

Areas still without power
The following customers and areas remain without electricity due to broken poles, damaged overhead feeder lines, and difficult terrain:
- Several streets in Heather Park remain without power due to broken poles.
- Several streets in Blanco are still without power.
- Glenwood Avenue remains without power due to broken poles and damaged lines.
- Qawa Substation in Thembalethu remains offline due to overloading problems. Teams will continue with storm damage repairs this morning.
- In Pollie Gerber Street, Denneoord, low-voltage power lines entangled in trees are being attended to. The lines are currently de-energised.
- In Ballotsview, teams regrouped this morning to continue attending to outages in surrounding areas.

Local contractors assist with electricity repairs
Service providers (local contractors) are currently assisting various municipalities across the Garden Route with storm-related electricity repairs.
This may impact the progress of repair and electrification work within the George municipal area.
