GEORGE NEWS - The June programme of the University of the Third Age (U3A) starts on Monday 12 June when Case Rijsdijk will deliver another lecture in the astronomy course in which he will discuss "The darkness of big words".
Having looked at the Sun, Moon and Earth, he will look at how we think it all started and how it might end. He will also look at cosmology, a subject that started off as a speculative topic but today is an exact observational science. The lecture will start at 10:30.
On Wednesday 14 June, Wilhelm van der Vyver will present his impressions of a trip to Russia with his wife in 2019.
He will explain why Russia was such a favourite tourist attraction and will give a general impression of Moscow and St Petersburg and many other interesting aspects. The lecture starts at 10:30.
The U3A Digital Camera Club will meet on Monday 19 June at 14:00 and will be looking at aspects of rust. The club is an informal digital camera club, yet with an ultimate goal to look, listen, learn and to enjoy photography.
People are welcome to attend a Digiclub meeting as a visitor at any time, at an entrance fee of R20 if they are not a member of the U3A. Members pay R10 per meeting.
