GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Botanical Garden Trust will host the second annual Garden Route Indigenous Plant Fair on the first weekend of November.
The plant fair will be open to the public at the following times: Friday and Saturday from 09:00 until 16:00, and Sunday 09:00 until 14:00.
The main focus of the plant fair will be the sale of indigenous plants, including many different kinds of locally indigenous trees and shrubs.
There will be a wide variety of flowering plants, a considerable variety of pincushions, proteas, restios as well as many other fynbos plants for sale.
This year there will also be succulents, clivias and orchids for sale. Plant specialists will be on hand to assist you with finding the plants that you are interested in, and to advise you about the plants that will suit your requirements and the size and conditions of your garden.
The plant fair will include a cosy marketplace where you can enjoy fresh food, botanical crafts and garden accessories. There will be various talks on some of the plants for sale.
There will also be a kiddies play area with a jumping castle and tractor wheel cart rides to keep the children busy while their parents can enjoy the market and the plant sale.
The trust also wants to thank all the Plant Fair sponsors, especially George Municipality, George Tourism and Wesgro, for their much-appreciated sponsorships.
There will also be some events taking place at the Il Giardino restaurant and tea garden.
Entry is through the Protea Gate to the Garden Route Botanical Garden at 49 Caledon Street, Camphersdrift, George.
