GEORGE NEWS - The Rae of Hope Foundation is hosting its second annual Heritage High Tea at the Conville Civic Centre on Sunday 29 September.
It promises to be a fun and heart-warming morning and is all for a good cause. Funds are raised for the foundation's plans to assist needy children in the George area with a back-to-school drive in 2025.
The event is a unique gathering designed to celebrate and support women from all walks of life during Heritage Month.
The organisers aim to provide a safe and inclusive space for women to connect, learn, and be inspired and empowered.
On the programme are motivational speakers, exhibits, arts and culture performances and networking opportunities.
An appreciation ceremony of top achievers in George will also be held.
Local veteran business-woman Beaulah Louw is the guest speaker and George's own celebrity painter Gregory Noble is the master of ceremonies.
Other artists who are on the programme are Wilhelm Wimpee Williams, Kevin Andries, By Grace Worship Team, and Ava Rae and Ariel Hope Maloy.
Doors open at 14:30 and the tea starts at 15:00. Tickets cost R200 and include a goodie bag.
The Rae of Hope Foundation was birthed out of the heritage of Ouma Raaitjie Syffers of St Mary's Street, Rosemoor.
Ouma Syffers was the coordinator for the Build a Better Society organisation (Babs) and the first woman of colour to serve on the then George Council in the 1980s.
Now her granddaughter, Dr Janene Maloy, has taken over the baton and is running with her vision of creating a better society for all to live in.
For enquiries, contact Janene Maloy on 078 588 3749 or Janey Ruiters on 082 384 1212.
Dr Janene Maloy is spearheading the Rae of Hope Foundation.
