On Sunday GLYC had its usual good turnout of around 20 boats with some newcomers trying out their skills.
Maurits and Janine Lammers sailed their new Sonnet in the President’s Trophy race while their son, Thomas, continued to improve on his Laser.
Young Jessie Smart took to the water in an Optimist for his first race and put up a good performance in the light but fickle breeze.
Alwyn Rose, usually a Hobie sailor, had a go on a Fireball and octogenarian Rodger Beazley showed considerable skill on a Laser Radial as he cruised around the fleet.
Malcolm Osborne dominated the senior fleet on handicap in his Laser and won the President’s Trophy overall with David Laing and Anthony Parker on Fireballs coming second and third respectively.
The junior fleet was competing for the next round of their Junior Championships and so far James Hellstrom, on a Tera Sport, has a one point lead over hot contender Georgou Divaris on an Optimist.
Johathan Rees was unable to compete in this round, but is following in third place with Jenna Lammers coming fourth.
There are two rounds to go, so anything could happen.
