GEORGE NEWS - The George Riding Club (GRC) will host the Western Cape Eventing Championships this weekend from Friday to Sunday, 17 to 19 October.
The event promises an action-packed experience for the whole family.
Eventing, often called the 'triathlon of horse riding', is one of the most challenging and thrilling equestrian disciplines as it tests every aspect of a horse and rider's partnership - precision, athleticism and courage.
It combines dressage, showjumping and cross-country and is a sport of strategy, stamina and mutual trust, whether at local level or international competitions like the Olympics.
This year, the GRC has partnered with George Municipality and George Tourism to stage a memorable event showcasing top riders and horses from across the country as they compete for provincial honours.
Spectators may expect a great atmosphere with free entry, food stalls and a fully stocked bar. Whether you are a horse enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out in the fresh air, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
"This is going to be a spectacular event," said the GRC's Gaby Berman. "It's a chance to experience the thrill of eventing up close while enjoying a family-friendly day in George."
