GEORGE NEWS - A young female boxer from George, Imange Thethani (15), emerged as the Western Cape champion and third nationally in her category at the South African National Boxing Organisation's (Sanabo) national championships for cadets and juniors.
The competition took place in Tzaneng Mall in Tzaneen, Limpompo from 25 to 28 September.
Thethani was a member of the Western Cape boxing team who ended the competition as the runners-up, bringing home nine gold medals, twelve silver medals and six bronze medals, while the juniors earned third place.
The team received a hero's welcome on Sunday evening, 29 September, when they arrived back from Limpopo at the Mossel Bay Shell garage.
Apart from Imange's achievement, three other Eden boxers came out among the top in the country in their respective categories.

Anenceba Mfeketho of Garden Route Boxing Club Academy in Mossel Bay: Western Cape gold and national silver
Qhamani Madolo of Garden Route Boxing Club Academy in Mossel Bay: Western Cape gold and national gold
Junior Mbuthuma of Garden Route Boxing Club Academy in Mossel Bay: Western Cape gold and national silver
