GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Come rain or shine, these athletes give it their all for the district - 365 days a year. Eden Sport Council made sure the sporting talent in the region receive their hard-earned accolades with a prize-giving event on Friday 18 October at Eagle's Nest Ministries.
Delegates from the Garden Route District Municipality and Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport shared the evening as proud partners.
"You are not just athletes; you are ambassadors of the Garden Route, spreading our message beyond the fields and courts," said Garden Route Mayor Andrew Stroebel in his keynote address.
Stroebel praised them for the values they embody through perseverance, hard work and commitment.
The annual celebration is also a tribute to the coaches, administrators and journalists in the field of sport who write the stories and capture the pictures.
