Twelve candidates were tested for a Yudansha grade in this traditional Oki-nawan fighting system under the supervision of a panel Japanese graded instructors.
André van Tonder and Wolter Meeske (George) received their junior black belts. Senior Black Belts were awarded to Robin Meeske, André Slabbert, Marinda Otto, Damian Belcher, Ro-bert Reid and Wilbur Grimsell from the George Honbu Dojo and Roeloff Serfontein, Xavier and Waldo Gerber from Oudtshoorn while Cundell Statt from Knysna received his Nidan (2nd dan).
The grading panel consisted of sensei's Jannie le Grange (6th dan), Betsie le Grange, Angelo Prins, Deon Nel
(all 5th dan), Norman Reinach, Buks Smit, Rocher le Grange and Amanda Rosser (all 4th dan).
