GEORGE CYCLING NEWS - Matthys Beukes and Robyn de Groot, both Georgians, are household names on the South African mountain biking circuit. But if the results of the race at Buffelsdrift in this year's Nissan Trailseeker MTB Series is anything to go by, they will pretty soon be joined by an upcoming youngster from George, Tristan Nortjé.
Beukes, riding for PYGA Euro Steel, comfortably won the men's section of Sunday's race at Buffelsdrift, a mere 15km north of Pretoria close to the Roodeplaat Dam, with his teammates Pieter du Toit second and Philip Buys third.
Nortjé finished in the overall fourth position, quite an accomplishment for this 19-year old.
Robyn de Groot won the ladies section.
The Nissan Trailseeker MTB Series is the biggest mountain bike series in the world and caters for both novice and pro athletes across South Africa. This event is the perfect outdoor experience with world-class routes that get the adrenaline pumping.
