BOXING NEWS - On 19 April, for the first time, George will host one of the biggest boxing tournaments in the region, the Easter Open Boxing Tournament.
It is also the first time George Municipality will partner with local clubs to make the tournament possible.
It will take place at the Rosemoor Community Hall and the starting time is 09:00.
Eight teams are expected to participate: Sobhuza Boxing Club (George), Masizakhe Youth Boxing Club (George), Absolen Boxing Club (Central Karoo), Garden Route Boxing Club Academy (Mossel Bay), Masibulele Boxing Club (Mossel Bay), Sonqoba Boxing Club (Plettenberg Bay), Ikamvalethu Boxing Club (Knysna) and Phakamisa Boxing Club (Knysna),
Nkosikho Makhalima, the Eden Open Boxing's president and the founder of Sobhuza Boxing Club, says he believes local boxing is on the right track, and that there are encouraging signs of development in the region.
He invites George communities and boxing supporters to attend the tournament.
