BOXING NEWS - Sobhuza Boxing Club and Ithemba Boxing Club, both from George, hosted a tournament against three Mossel Bay clubs on Saturday.
The outdoors tournament took place behind MM Mateza Primary School in Nelson Mandela Boulevard, Thembalethu.
The participating Mossel Bay clubs were Garden Route Boxing Club - that took home the most medals - Masibulele Boxing Club and Ikhaya Boxing Club.
Eden District Boxing president Nkosikho Makhalima said the purpose of the event was to create and strengthen friendship ties among the young boxers, while also promoting boxing in Thembalethu.
He said they are working hard to get children off the streets into a safer space where they are not exposed to social evils such as crime and substance abuse, and asked local businesses to support their efforts.
