GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - If you’re craving some crisp Karoo air, wide-open spaces and the thrill of a challenge, the 2025 7Weekspoort MTB & Trail Run Challenge is calling your name.
Held in the picturesque surroundings of Ladismith on Saturday 27 September, this much-loved event offers more than just racing.
It’s an immersive weekend of endurance, fun and pure countryside joy.
Entries are officially open, and athletes from across South Africa are invited to take part in this Ladismith Cheese-sponsored celebration.
Hosted once again at Karoo62Escapes along the R62, the event caters to both mountain bikers and passionate trail runners. Riders can choose between 29km, 43km (eBike friendly), and the tough 85km MTB race.
Trail runners can hit the dirt on 10km or 20km routes, and brand-new trails were added to this year’s edition to spice things up.
Locals turn out in full force to support the athletes, and once the sweat has dried and medals are earned, the festival continues into the night with the high-energy Karoo Rocks Music Festival, headlined by local legends like Francois van Coke.
Whether you’re pushing for a personal best or soaking up the social atmosphere, you'll find something to love on and off the course.
Need a place to stay? Karoo62Escapes offers self-catering chalets and unique accommodation options just 10km from Ladismith.
Important note: e-bikes are welcome on the 43km MTB route, but are not permitted in the 85km race. Make sure to indicate your e-bike use when registering.
