SPORT NEWS - There were some tense moments in the 2025 Comrades Marathon, as Tete Dijana and Gerda Steyn grabbed their respective wins in the down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
Dijana, who said he was aiming only for a top-10 finish after placing 16th in 2024, crossed the finish line in 5:25:28, just five seconds ahead of Dutchman Piet Wiersma in a near repeat of the drama 2 years ago.
In the women’s race, Gerda Steyn took the top spot once again to cement her title as South Africa's queen of ultra distance running.
Steyn crossed the line ahead of Russian Alexandra Morozova and Kenyan Shelmith Muriuki.
