FOOTBALL NEWS - The Lawaaikamp giants Black Cats dropped important points at home when they played a 2-2 draw against Dysselsdorp side Moonlight in an entertaining Safa Regional Men's League game on Saturday 25 March at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Black Cats have so far played 25 league fixtures with 14 victories, seven draws and four defeats and are in second position with 49 points on the Regional League table.
Moonlight are still battling their way up to the top five positions. Melisizwe Bomvana of Black Cats had an exceptional game and scored a marvellous free kick just outside the box for his side.
Moonlight kicked off. Black Cats players were controlling the game from the centre of the field playing beautiful combination going forward looking for the first goal of the game.
The Black Cats defender made a dangerous foul just out side the box from the left side of the field after their strong attacks Jostiaan Oosthuizen of Moonlight scoreed the opening goal to make it 1-0 after the beautiful set pierce.
Both teams were looking for more chances with Mzwanele Jwaqa of Black Cats trying his luck out side the box but his shot went over the bar. The home team relied on the pace of Melisizwe Bomvana up front who was creating havoc for Moonlight defenders. While the visiting team Moonlight defenders were working over time defending their lead playing the ball way from their eighteen erea.
Moonlight were using the strength of Barenito Lewis to press and push Black Cats defenders to panic. Lewis of Moonlight missed his golden opportunity on one versus one situation against Black Cats goalkeeper Sesethu Nyhunyha made wonderful save when he blocked Barenito's shot forcing a corner kick for Moonlight but again they failed to break the net from their corner kick.
Black Cats come back into the game and they were awarded with a free kick after dangerous tackle from Moonlight back line Melisizwe Bomvana took the free kick and he drove a long range shot scoring the equalising goal to make it 1-1 after his beautiful long range strike beating Moonlight goalkeeper Ruwayne Moos just before the first half whistle blew.
The first fourty five minutes of the game ended 1-1 with both teams failing to convert their clear cut chances. Berenito Lewis of Moonlight missed his golden chance of the game.
The second half of the game started on fire with Black Cats setting the pace in the second half attacking Moonlight defenders. Damian Botha of Moonlight delivered a powerful shot but his shot went straight to Black Cats goalkeeper Sesethu Nyhunyha.
The home team took the game from Moonlight using the speed of Melisizwe Bomvana up front and he sent a clever pass inside the box and Lunga Jantjies scored the second goal for Black Cats to make it 2-1 after the delightful pass played in by Melisizwe Bomvana from the right side of the field.
The game still on with Moonlight launching the strong attack from the left side of the field of the field employing the speed of Byrone Jafta from his solo effort he managed to score their equalising goal to make it 2-2.
Both teams were looking very sharp on the ball looking for the winning goal during the last minutes of the game with the home side Black Cats playing the ball inside the box attacking Moonlight defenders but it was too late for the Cats to score the winning goal after they were one man down.
Tsepo Mbenyane of Black Cats was sent off with a red card during the game.The exciting Safa Eden Regional Men's League game ended 2-2.
