GEORGE NEWS - Black Cats defeated Voota FC 3-2 in a Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional League game on Saturday morning, 20 January at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Xolani Mandla, Nkosiyabo Toto and Luyanda Laho netted the goals for the Lawaaikamp side Black Cats, while Dylan Nicholas and Sisipho Manelisi scored for the visiting team from Knysna.
After last weekend's fixtures Black Cats are on top of the table in the regional league.
Black Cats launched the game with an attack on the left side of the field using the pace of Luyanda Laho, but the shot went wide. A shot by Xolani Mandla of Black Cats from the right side of the field went over the goal.
Two attempts from Voota followed, but a powerful shot by Abeyinica Adebayoa outside the box, and a free kick outside the box both missed the target.
Excellent work from the Black Cats wingers saw them break through with Xolani Mandla scoring the opening goal. Voota attacked to get their equalising goal, but they were blocked by Black Cats' defence. With smart play the Lawaaikamp side managed to go straight inside the box and Nkosiyabo
Toto scored the second goal to make it 2-0. Voota came back into the game and drove a strong attack inside the box, causing Black Cats defender Lukhona Ntulo to make a reckless challenge leading to a penalty for Voota.
Dylan Nicholas netted this penalty to make it 2-1.
Xolani Mandla delivered a long-range shot, but Voota's goalkeeper Andile Kolo made a brilliant save. At half time the score was 2-1 with Cats leading.
The second half started on fire with both teams playing excellent touches on the ball. Xolani Mandla of Black Cats played a slick pass to Luyanda Laho, but he failed to score.
Lufefe Ngalonkulu of Voota controlled the centre of the field looking for opportunities. Sisipho Manelisi scored the equalising goal with a a great shot.
Black Cats made their changes bringing in the experienced Kwanele Mdlulwa. Voota players were trying to contain the offensive play from the Black Cats wingers.
Voota pressed and pushed during the remaining five minutes, but it was a clever pass from Kwanele Mdlulwa of Black Cats that led to the winning goal for Black Cats, scored by Luyanda Laho.
The match ended 3-2 with Black Cats collecting points at home.
