GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu's Raul Stars FC defeated Black Cats 1(4)-1(3) in penalty shoot-outs during their semi-final game in the Easter tournament on Monday morning, 1 April at Thembalethu Stadium.
With both sides opting for a fast, attacking game, Black Cats were initially looking very smart on the ball.
The first half saw a shot at the goal by Lethu Scritsh which was blocked by Raul Stars goalkeeper Aphelo Skiet, before Siyabonga Aseni of Raul Stars netted the only goal of the first half. Throughout the second half, Black Cats couldn't break through the stubborn defence of their opponents until the last minutes of the game, when their utility player Mivuyo Ngubo netted the equalising goal. The game was decided by a penalty shoot-out which saw Raul Stars walk away victorious.
Raul Stars FC head coach Nyameko Ntshingwa was very pleased with his team's performance. He said they have a number of talented players to choose from and the team was prepared for the Easter Festival. Raul Stars, that was formed in 2015 under difficult circumstances, has produced many talented young players and through his style of managing the side has attracted many football supporters across the region.
He said that the team will keep on working hard to achieve optimum results.
