SOCCER NEWS - On Wednesday 30 July, the All Stars FC, a George Local Football Association team, received a significant boost after a strong 2024/25 season.
Finishing second in the league, this Zone 9 team narrowly missed the Safa Eden Inter-LFA play-offs.
The fibre company Octotel supported the club by donating branded soccer jerseys, training equipment and soccer balls to uplift the Zone 9 giants.
Team member Sibongile Tilana expressed his excitement about the partnership, calling it a major milestone for the club.
He noted that this support answers years of need, particularly for the youth from the disadvantaged areas in Thembalethu. He said this collaboration with Octotel would help the team achieve its goals.
Carly Hendricks, Octotel’s corporate social responsibility team leader, emphasised that sponsoring All Stars with new kits and equipment was part of the company’s commitment to community development in Thembalethu.
The ongoing partnership would support the All Stars FC Academy during league matches and award ceremonies.
Hendricks said Octotel aims to foster youth success in sports and recreation, strengthening their community presence in George.
