CRICKET NEWS - The SWD Cricket Academy team recorded two victories in their three matches during the recent Academies tournament that was hosted at the University of Fort Hare in Alice and Ngumbela Park in Healdtown in the Eastern Cape.
In the first match they suffered a 9-wicket defeat against the Free State Academy but recovered with two impressive victories against the Border Academy (won by 6 wickets) and the Fort Hare Academy (won by 5 wickets).
Travis Ackerman (with bat and ball) and Franklin Stuurman (with ball) were the outstanding performers for SWD.

Free State Academy beat SWD Academy by 9 wickets:
SWD ACADEMY 97 all out (Mesuli Vuba 25, Levin Muller 23, Bailey Aarons 16, Du Plessis 4/12, Kheswa 2/5, Ncedane 2/23).
FREE STATE ACADEMY 99/1 (KP Kleinhans 47*, O Thaele 22, C Flanegan 17*).
SWD Academy beat Border Academy by 6 wickets:
BORDER ACADEMY 113 all out (J Bosser 42,
J Long 21, L Dallas 19, Travis Ackermann 4/17, Ndumiso Mvelase 3/26).
SWD ACADEMY 114/4 (Bradley Carolus 51*, Travis Ackermann 32*, Levin Muller 18).
SWD Academy beat Fort Hare Academy by 5 wickets:
