GEORGE NEWS - South Western Districts Cricket is hosting the USSA B Tertiary cricket tournament in George from today, Tuesday 28 November until Friday 1 December.
This is the third occasion that SWD is hosting this event. In 2021 George was also the host city.
The 10 teams participating include the Durban University of Technology, Walter Sisulu University, Vaal University of Technology, Mangosuthu University of Technology, North-West University (Vaal Campus), Tshwane University of Technology, North-West University (Mahikeng Campus), University of Limpopo, Sefako Makgatho Health Science University and the University of Mpumalanga.
At the official opening of the tournament, SWD Cricket president Michael Eksteen thanked Cricket South Africa for granting the opportunity to SWD Cricket to host this event in the region. He acknowledged the role of the George Council for their support and contribution towards this event.
Matches are being played at Glenwood High School, Outeniqua High, George Cricket Club and Pacaltsdorp United Cricket Club.
SWD Cricket will also be the hosts for the Cricket South Africa Boys U/16 national tournament from 10 to 14 December. Matches will be played in both Oudtshoorn and George.
