CRICKET NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women suffered defeats in both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 matches the past weekend.
The Badgers travelled to Cape Town to face Western Province at Newlands.
In the Pro50 match the home side posted 303/5, with Faye Tunnicliffe with an unbeaten 108* the batting hero.
In spite of an impressive half century by Mieke de Ridder (60), the Badgers were bowled out for 166 and lost by 137 runs.
In the Pro20 match on Sunday, the Badgers (125 all out) offered more resistance, but Western Province (126/5 in 19.1 overs) surpassed the total in the last over for a five-wicket victory.
The Badgers will however remain in the professional competition next season with one round of matches – against the Knights in Bloemfontein (28 and 29 March) left. The Knights will be relegated after the performances of the past two seasons have been taken into consideration.
