CRICKET NEWS - For the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women's team to meet their aspirations of remaining in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series of South African women's cricket, they will need to record a victory in either format this weekend.

The Badgers will take on the highly rated Fidelity Titans at Supersport Park in Pretoria in the Cricket South Africa Hollywoodbets Pro50 Series (Saturday 15 February), and in a Pro20 Series match that will be played on Sunday 16 February.

Glimpses of potential

The Badgers showed glimpses of their potential with much-needed victories against the Knights and Western Province in their recent encounters at Oudtshoorn at the end of 2024.

The Titans are currently fifth on the log in the Pro50 format. The Badgers, thanks to two victories, are fourth on the Pro50 log, with nine points, and winless in the Pro20 competition, where they are at the bottom of the log.

Coach Martelize van der Merwe and her team will feel the pressure, but this weekend will also provide an opportunity for the Oudtshoorn-based team to get themselves out of the relegation zone.
