GEORGE NEWS - The George Street Mile returns on 14 December, bringing high-intensity racing and top athletic talent to the heart of the city.
As one of the flagship events of the George Festival 2025, the race forms part of the wider Eden Street Mile Series, which also includes events in Oudtshoorn (16 December) and Hartenbos (18 December) later in the week.
The series attracts elite athletes, rising stars and enthusiastic recreational runners, all vying for position over the iconic one-mile distance. With more than R60 000 in prize money across the three races, strong competition is expected on the George route, known for drawing large crowds and producing fast times.
Organisers say the George Street Mile continues to grow as a community-centred event, combining festival energy with a professionally managed racing atmosphere. Spectators can expect a full programme of age-group events, schools’ races and senior categories, creating opportunities for athletes of all levels to take part.
The race will once again take place on a spectator-friendly street circuit, giving residents and visitors the chance to line the route and experience the action up close as athletes sprint for the finish.
Entries for all Eden Street Mile Series events are now open. Runners can register online at www.edenmiles.co.za
