HOEKWIL NEWS - There wasn't a dry eye in sight at Hoekwil Primary as the school community gathered to bid farewell to principal Flippie Grobbelaar.
Grobbelaar retires after 33 dedicated years in education, with 10 years of service at Hoekwil Primary School.
To mark this special occasion on 25 April, the learners rolled out the red carpet - quite literally - and sent Grobbelaar on his way in style.
The parents, staff, SGB and all the children joined in the celebration, many sharing fond memories and words of gratitude.
The children dressed up as characters whose names start with the letters F or G, to honour Grobbelaar - some even arriving as charming miniature versions of the principal himself.
With cheers, smiles and a few happy tears, they gathered to wave goodbye as he was whisked off in a beautifully decorated car, a fitting tribute to the man.
As Grobbelaar embarks on this exciting new chapter, the Hoekwil community wishes him every happiness and fulfilment.
His years of service will be remembered for generations to come. Estelle Nel, Grade One head of department, is currently acting as principal.
The principal's car perfectly decorated for the occasion.
