The character of Enhle Mlotshwa, who plays Nandi on the SABC 2 soapie, is in an interracial relationship with a Barnard, played by Werner Coetser.
She received racial backlashes after the soapie uploaded a picture on Facebook of the couple kissing.
The actress took to Instagram account where she said: “Bernard and Nandi received some racist slurs from their onscreen debut this past week (production expected it and so did I and change was the point) but the crazy thing is racial slurs happened on set with people I thought were educated and open minded.”
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said no complaint had been lodged but the national broadcaster had asked the production company to investigate and report back.
