NATIONAL NEWS - A 79-year-old Athlone man has been arrested for murder.

The suspect had laid a complaint with police about a break-in at his house in at the weekend.

The man claimed he had shot a robber before he fled the scene.

Officers later received a tip-off that the alleged robber had in fact died and his body had been hidden away in the complainant’s yard.
