The three are accused of fraud and defeating the ends of justice, for their involvement in the so-called Zimbabwe rendition investigation.
McBride allegedly altered a report to exonerate a senior Hawks official who had been implicated in the arrest and illegal deportation of five Zimbabwean suspects in 2010.
McBride, Matthews Sesoko and Innocent Khuba made a brief appearance in court, where the state agreed to hand over the docket to the defence team within the next month.
McBride has maintained that there is no case against him and is eager to challenge the allegations in court.
