Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says the 36-year-old man was arrested by the Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on Tuesday.
He says the suspect allegedly abducted and raped a 16-year-old schoolgirl who had been reported missing on Monday.
Manatha says the girl's school had discovered that the suspect had allegedly made the young girl his wife.
He says its not clear if the girl's parents were involved in arranging the forced marriage, known as Ukuthwala.
