NATIONAL NEWS - The University of Johannesburg has appointed an acting council chair and deputy vice-chancellor of finance while they carry out investigations into multi-million rand fraud.
A report in the Sunday Independent has revealed that Professor Roy Marcus and Jaco van Schoor, who previously held the positions, were suspended after a whistleblower accused them of syphoning off at least R25 million.
According to the paper, the two allegedly channeled the money into their private business.
UJ has since suspended the two with pay pending the outcome of an investigation by auditing firm Sizwe Ntsabula Gobodo.
