Son attacked with acid: Mother, co-accused appear in Ladysmith court

The Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.

NATIONAL NEWS - Nontobeko Portia ‘Sindi’ Ngema and Msizi Mbhele appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on 22 October, to apply for bail.

Dubbed the ‘acid attempted murder’ case, the duo are accused of trying to kill Ngema’s 26-year-old son using drain cleaning acid.

The case was postponed to next Thursday.

Ngema also faces an additional charge of theft, which was postponed to the same date as the attempted murder charge.

They were arrested in town on 20 October and made their first court appearance two days later.
