Based on the trio of low resolution images leaked by Jalopnik, the 992, pictured here in Carrera S guise, remains mostly unchanged from the 991.2 when viewed from the front, with the most noticeable change being the thin, wraparound LED taillight running the entire width of the rear facia.
While the interior has not yet been seen, chances are that it will be carried over from the 991.2 albeit with a number of revisions, while the engine line-up will also remain as-is displacement-wise, but tweaked in terms of power and torque with the entry-level 3.0-litre turbocharged flat-six set to produce 284kW in Carrera models and up 331kW in S variants, while the 3.8-litre blown-flat six in the Turbo could produce in the region of 426kW.
Expected to join the latter model next year, the 992 hybrid will combine the S’ flat-six with an electric motor for a rumoured total output of 356kW, while conflicting reports have emerged about the GT3 with claims of it receiving a 383kW version of the Turbo’s engine, or possibility keeping the normally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six producing as much 410kW. No word on the GT2 or GT3 RS has yet been made.
As before, the 992 will have the option of two-or-four-wheel drive, and while the majority of models will be equipped with the seven-speed PDK gearbox, some are likely to retain the seven-speed manual. Bodystyles will be made of the coupe, cabriolet and Targa.
