In the newest spy video by the Automotive Mike YouTube page, the white A45 pounding the Nürburgring still comes with heavy masking on the front and thin layers of black-and-white wrapping down the side, although at the rear, most of the cladding has been removed from the bumper, leaving just the diffuser and, somewhat oddly, the three-pointed star badge with camouflage.
As indicated last month however, the A45 will not only feature the brand’s new 4Matic all-wheel drive system, but also the new eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that debuted on the B-class in Paris, and a chassis setup that has been designed to work in tandem with the 4Matic system to allow for an effective Drift Mode.
“The chassis compared to today... it's unbelievable. We have various suspension in the car and it's an improvement in every perspective. There's more comfort, more rigidity in every way, so we put a lot of effort into the body in white. There's lots of reinforcement and it fits perfectly.Okay... you can go sideways with it,” AMG boss Tobias Moers was quoted by Australia’s caradvice.com.au as saying at the French showpiece following the unveiling of the A35.
As is well known by now, the A45 will use the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the previous generation, but with a confirmed output of 298kW or 400 horsepower. A more powerful model, reportedly set to be called A45 S or A50, could bow at a later stage possibly also with the brand’s 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid system.
