Posted on the automaker’s Facebook page, the 36 second clip doesn’t reveal much and mainly shows the still camouflaged examples strutting their stuff on both tar and gravel surfaces, as well as showcasing the workings of the suspension and confirming the fitment of the marque’s Adaptive LED headlights.
What is expected though is that both will become the first models to usher-in the new S58 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged engine that will reportedly power the new M3, with a rumoured output of 450 PS or 331kW in standard form, and 500 PS that equates to 368kW in the case of the Competition versions.
Likely to be paired with the eight-speed Steptronic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive like the M5, top speed is set to be limited to 250km/h as usual, but with the 0-100km/h set to improve on the 4.8 seconds of the 265kW, S55 engine M40i models.
Aimed squarely at the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and 63 S as well as the Audi SQ5, expect more details to be revealed soon with the Competition variants only set to arrive next year.
