GEORGE NEWS - George Riding Club (GRC) is proud to be hosting the exclusive Western Cape Pony and Junior Rider Show Jumping Championship this weekend, from Saturday to Monday, 19 to 21 March.
The show offers a series of different recreational and graded show jumping classes ranging from 40cm to 130cm in height.
Currently 250 riders are enrolled and organisers are expecting a lot more.
"The WC Pony and Junior Rider Champs is a significant annual show to all our equestrian youth and we are honoured to organise this event," said GRC secretary Paula Bronkhorst. "GRC boasts lush green facilities and top-quality arenas. It is the only show grounds in the Garden Route between Gqeberha and Cape Town offering equestrians the opportunity to compete exclusively."
Competitors aged between five and 20 years will be descending on George from all over the Western Cape, accompanied by family, friends and instructors.
A total of about 600 people and more than 100 horses are expected.
"They require accommodation and entertainment, and will of course be dining out a lot. We are happy that the tourism industry of George will benefit greatly from the inflow at the show," said Bronkhorst.
"GRC is grateful to Equestrian Affair, our main title sponsor, and to all other sponsors for being generous and contributing greatly to making this event a huge success."
