Update

GEORGE NEWS - The George Municipality is happy to announce that the river and river mouth area at Gwaiing are open for swimming following a temporary closure due to high Ecoli levels.

The Civil Engineering Services (CES) this morning, 30 December 2022, confirmed that the latest water test results showed that the Ecoli levels were within the acceptable limit.

This means the beach is safe for public use for swimming. The CES continues to take daily water samples to monitor the water quality.
