GEORGE NEWSFLASH - Within 48 hours of two German tourists being mugged in Wilderness last week Monday, three suspects were arrested.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, the three men, Marlin Jansen (35), Jason Scheepers (20) and Devonique Scheepers (21) were arrested at their homes in Touwsranten at approximately 17:30 on the Wednesday following the incident.
“All the stolen goods were retrieved. Some of the items were found in their possession and the rest was found in a second hand shop in George shortly after their arrest,” he said.
The couple was attacked and robbed returning from a hike on the Brown-hooded Kingfisher trail last Monday afternoon, 19 February.
The victims parked their car at the picnic sport near Rondevlei to start their hike.
When they returned an hour and a half later, they saw three suspicious looking men covering their faces.
The couple made for their car, but the culprits threatened them with knives and robbed them of their belongings.
