GEORGE NEWS - There is a heavy sense of loss in the George Herald offices this week as, together with our editor Lizette da Silva, we mourn the devastating loss of her sister, Monique Grove (39).
Monique passed away of natural causes in a Cape Town hospital on Monday evening, 10 February.
A cherished daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and love for her family and friends will be dearly missed.
As her loved ones navigate this difficult time, we keep them in our thoughts and prayers so that they find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
"Monique was a true ray of sunshine, whose radiant spirit and loving heart brought immense joy to the lives of her family and friends. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void, but also precious memories that will live on in our hearts forever," says Da Silva.
Monique is survived by her parents, Jolyon and Elizabeth Stoffels, as well as her husband, Granville, and their two young sons, Kieran and Lucas. The family resides in Cape Town.
Monique was one of four siblings and shared a close bond with her two sisters and brother.
Her mother-in-law, Waradeah Grove, two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law also feel the loss deeply, along with everyone who knew and loved her.
The Grove and Stoffels families would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for every encouraging message, call and prayer.
"Your support means more than words can describe during this difficult time. Monique's love, caring nature, laughter and warmth will always be a part of us.
"We carry her in our hearts and cherish all the beautiful memories she left behind."
Group Editors CEO Servaas de Kock conveyed condolences on behalf of the entire group.
"The Group Editors board, management, and staff extend their deepest condolences on the passing of Monique. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time. May her memory live on through her impact on those around her and the legacy she leaves behind."
