These PACE career and placement tests are an important tool for students and teachers to determine the best possible route of study for a potential full-time or part-time student, and can provide imperative guidance of the most suitable career options for a specific person.
Mrs Monica Mahlangu, marketing officer for the George Campus, assisted by Mrs Heidi Ryan, student support officer for the George Campus, visited York High for a whole day to administer these tests. Results are made available to the students and, on request and with permission of the student, to Life Orientation teachers that guide learners.
Mahlangu also visited the Touwsranten Community Centre on various occasions. This community, deep in the rural areas surrounding George, was in dire need of being informed about possibilities for further education and training for its youth. Due to its geographical location, young people in Touwsranten rarely get the opportunity to experience study opportunities first-hand.
"Reaching out to our partners in edu-cation, and especially our communities, is high on the priority list of South Cape FET College," said Yvonne Botha, head of marketing and communication at the institution.
She invites other schools and communities that would like to make use of this opportunity for testing, to contact the central office or the nearest campus.
